The psyche, in one useful model, is not a unified self but a household, populated by recurring figures, each with their own logic, their own fear, their own room. Some of them manage. Some of them protect through destruction. Some of them have been waiting in the basement so long they've forgotten what they were protecting. Depth Wish is an interactive environment built from that premise.

The structure is a house whose interior is far larger than its exterior suggests. From outside it reads as modest, contained. Inside, it extends upward and downward through rooms that function less like architecture and more like states. Animated figures, archetypes drawn from the artist's own inner landscape, inhabit these levels. The viewer has agency to move between them. The deeper rooms require something before they open: the parts that live there need to feel seen first.

The title carries a deliberate echo. Freud's death drive, the pull toward dissolution, is reframed here not as the wish to end but as the wish to go under, to descend into what has been stored, to make contact with it, to find out what Self looks like when you've finally done that work. The visual language merges 2D and 3D, illustration and space, fairytale and floor plan. It is currently in development, moving from Spline3D into Unity.
