East Bay Alternative Book & Zine Fest 2013
I published my first zine when I was a sophomore in high school. It was a bit misguided - some rehashed content from Thrasher magazine that I hoped would ingratiate the cute skater boys, some of my friend's explicit "poetry" and my own outsider poems. I made a few on-off zines after that which just ended up being little art books - they didn't get copied and distributed. So when I moved the the East Bay and got peeks at the uber DIY culture here, and then realized there was a whole festival dedicated to the craft of self publishing, it wasn't long before I was laying out pages to create my own offering. My parter and I got to work and signed up for a table at the 2014 East Bay Alternative Book & Zine Fest under the name Sinew Avenue (more on this later). I got a chance to walk around and capture some of the tables and oh-so-eastbay folks (check out the older gent with the "punks not dead" patch!) Here are some photos from the event.
Admission is free and it is in Berkeley right by the BART. For more info: East Bay Alternative Book & Zine Fest
